Saxum Vineyards is a celebrated winery nestled in California’s Paso Robles wine country, known for producing bold, world-class blends with a strong sense of place. Specializing in Rhône varietals like Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre—along with select Bordeaux varieties—Saxum has earned a reputation for power, finesse, and age-worthy complexity.
Located in the rugged Willow Creek District, Saxum’s vineyards climb steep hillsides of rocky, calcareous soil, where warm sun and cool ocean breezes create the perfect environment for growing intensely flavorful grapes. Every aspect of the process—from vineyard to bottle—is driven by a commitment to quality and sustainability. The vines are farmed without chemical fertilizers, herbicides, or pesticides, and thanks to deep root systems, irrigation is rarely needed.
Saxum’s approach to winemaking is hands-on and minimalist, allowing the fruit and the land to shine. Yields are kept low, harvests are timed for peak ripeness, and the wines are made in small batches with meticulous care. The result: wines of depth, structure, and soul that continue to earn critical acclaim and a loyal following.
Production is intentionally limited to about 8,000 cases per year, divided among ten distinctive cuvées—including Broken Stones, The Hexe, Bone Rock, and the legendary James Berry Vineyard. Demand is so high, most bottles are only available through a coveted allocation list—with a wait that can stretch three to four years.
Saxum isn’t just a winery—it’s a benchmark in Paso Robles, offering wines that speak powerfully of place, passion, and patience.
