SUMMARY:Winemaker Evening: Jacob Toft of Toft Wines
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a special evening with Jacob and Kelly Toft of Toft Wines\, who after receiving over 90-point scores from respected critic Robert Parker\, sold out their vintages in one day!\n \nThis lovely husband and wife team not only craft artisanal small batch wines\, but are kind sweet people who love to share their passion for wine with other \nenthusiasts. Toft Wines are all about the pursuit of flavor that starts with meticulous farming. With access to the premier vineyards spanning the Central Coast\, Toft wines honor the AVAs from which the grapes are cultivated. His small production allows him to focus his attention on fruit source and handcrafting his blends. Jacob has a calling to introduce regions to one another and that journey is fulfilled in his cellar; his focus is blended between the details. \nWhile studying under Stephan Asseo of L’Aventure for six years\, Jacob learned that wines of quality begin in the vineyard. Therefore\, he sources only the best fruit that the Central Coast offers. These vineyard locations span from Santa Barbara to Santa Lucia Highlands\, with deep roots in Paso Robles. \n “Come for the wine\, stay for the winemaker\, leave with a bottle!” \n \nGuests will enjoy 4 highly rated wines (1 white and 3 reds) with Jacob & Kelly and other like-minded club members\, along with wonderfully paired passed appetizers. Toft wines are limited to their allocation membership twice a year. ESB is grateful for the opportunity to share Toft wines with its members through special arrangement with the Tofts. Jacob has been producing small-batch\, full-flavored wines for over 17 years. Previously a gypsy winemaker\, Jacob settled his winemaking operations in Tin City in 2015. Alongside his wife Kelly\, they continue to craft blends with huge personality & nimble feet and look forward to sharing them with you! \n“We handcraft big\, red blends using the best fruit sources along the Central Coast. Rhone\, Bordeaux\, Petite Syrah\, Zinfandel\, and sometimes a white.”\nThe Winemaker evening takes place in a very special and unique Santa Barbara home with a view like no other. This modern home\, with its large arched glass walls\, features an unusual panoramic northern view looking across the bay; from Ventura in the east\, along the mountains past the 154 San Marcos pass\, to Gaviota in the west. Truly a sight!

SUMMARY:Winemaker Evening: Eric Jensen of Booker
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a special evening with Eric Jensen of Booker Wines\, whose Oublié Paso Robles 2014 was listed among Wine Spectator’s Top 10 Wines in 2017. \nEpicurean Santa Barbara is honored to welcome Eric Jensen to our hometown for this event. He has graciously allocated wine to Epicurean Santa Barbara\, even though bottles are only available to members of Booker’s wine club. Eric’s wines are effectively sold out due to the overwhelming thirst for his wines by his club members. Don’t miss this rare chance to taste and take home a bottle with our special tasting and bottle program… \n “Come for the wine\, stay for the winemaker\, leave with a bottle!” \nGuests will enjoy 4 highly rated 95+ point  wines with Eric Jensen and other like-minded club members\, along with wonderfully paired passed appetizers. (Booker wines retail from $54 – $106+ a bottle.)   \n \nWe will be featuring:\n2016 White (white blend)\n2016 Ripper (100% Grenache)\n2016 Vertigo (52% Syrah\, 30% Grenache\, 18% Mourvedre)\n2016 Fracture (100% Syrah)\nThis evening is a special opportunity to meet\, great\, eat\, and celebrate great wine with one of the world’s “larger than life” characters. With his beginnings as a music event promoter in LA to his move to Paso Robles to grow grapes and make wine\, he now describes himself in only the way he can… “I used to hire yard guys\, now I actually am one!”  \n \nEric and Lisa Jensen purchased 100 acres of the property in 2001 with the intent of growing the best fruit for some of the best wineries in the area. After making wine with Justin Smith (of Saxum) for five years and Stephan Asseo (of L’Aventure Wines) for two years\, the Jensens decided it was time to create their own expression with Booker Vineyard. The 2005 Vintage was Booker Vineyard’s first release with the wines being made by owner Eric Jensen. \n\nFrom Jeb Dunnuck\, of Wine Advocate:\n“While certainly the character of Paso’s winemaking motley crew\, Booker Vineyard’s Eric Jensen is dead serious when it comes to wine. Creating the estate in 2005 (they planted their vineyard in 2001)\, today he farms one of the greatest vineyards in the appellation and his wines consistently rank in the top two or three produced in a vintage. The only drawback here is the wines are made in tiny quantities and are moved almost exclusively through his mailing list.” \n“Created in 2005\, owner/winemaker Eric Jenson has pushed Booker Vineyard into the top 2-3 estates in the region…the wines…are some of the most impressive releases coming out of California. While in the past\, they relied on pure fruit and texture to impress\, today they possess layered\, elegant and complex characters paired with serious depth\, richness and structure.”\nThe Winemaker evening takes place in a very special and unique Santa Barbara home with a view like no other. This modern home\, with its large arched glass walls\, features an unusual panoramic northern view looking across the bay; from Ventura in the east\, along the mountains past the 154 San Marcos pass\, to Gaviota in the west. Truly a sight! On the evening of this event\, there will be another special event courtesy of mother nature: a spectacular moonrise over Ojai and the mountains above Carpentaria\, which will light up the water of the bay\, coinciding with our enjoyment of these fine wines.
